Dwelling Fire

Just before 1830 hrs. on December 12, 2011, units from the Joppa-Magnolia, Level, Bel Air, Abingdon, and Fallston Volunteer Fire Companys and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department in Harford County; as well as the Long Green and Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company from Baltimore County responded to a house on fire in the 2400 block of Bluefield Circle, Joppa, Maryland, Harford County. Crews arrived to find an approximately 4400 square foot, single family, occupied dwelling, fully involved with fire. Lack of fire hydrants made extinguishing the fire difficult. Extra tankers were requested and "shuttled" water from a hydrant next to the new McDonalds at Mountain & Belair Roads. Crews operated for several hours extinguishing this difficult fire. The homeowner reported that there was “racing fuel” being stored in the structure. This was believed to contribute to the intensity of the fire. Chief 8 (Lloyd) had the Bluefield Circle command.
